Pakistan chases Record-Breaking 345 runs against Sri Lanka
Pakistan has successfully chased 345 runs target set by Sri Lanka. This is the highest run-chase in history of ODI World Cups.

in 8th match of World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 344 runs in 50 overs with brilliant 122(77) of Mendis and 108(89) of Samarawickrama. Hassan Ali took 4 wickets and Haris Rauf hunted 2 batsmen.

In response, Pakistan lost two early wickets of Imam and Captain Babar at total of 37. Then Abdullah Shafique and Muhammad Rizwan build a partnership of 176 runs. Abdullah scored hundred at his world cup debut and scored 113. Rizwan got injured at 80 runs but he decided to continue his innings with pain in backbone and leg. He played a real heroic innings of 131*. Pakistan chased the total in 48.4 overs. Madushanka took 2 wickets.
Pakistan should focus on their fielding as they are habitual of dropping catches. Today, Imam dropped Mendis when he was at 18 and then Mendis scored a firing 122 on just 77 balls with 6 sixes. Babar needs to improve his captaincy as well. Today first he introduced Iftikhar with ball in 24th over when run rate had reached to 7.21 per over. Iftikhar bowled 4 overs and give 22 runs only but he replaced him with Shadab and then Nawaz who were giving runs at much more rate. Babar needs to improve his skills for change in bowling.
Catches dropped against tough teams like India, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia may cost the match so Babar eleven should work on it before it is too late.
