However actual difference was of hunting of regular spinners as Pakistan only regular spinner bowled 84 overs and took 8 wickets (wicket in every eleventh over on average) while Lankan regular spinners took 15 wickets in 116 overs (wicket in every 8th over on average). Further Pakistan batsmen also played unnecessary under pressure in second innings and losing wickets resulting in unnecessary defeat. Pakistan batsmen are known for better playing spinners however even after this comparative advantage, Sri Lankan spinners manage somehow and took the match by 21 runs. Herath also got the hallmark of 400 test wickets becoming the 14th bowler of the world and second Lankan man to achieve this mark. He is the first left-arm spinner in the history of cricket who did this.
